Satpura is home to a diverse range of wildlife, including Bengal tigers, leopards, sloth bears, Indian gaur (bison), wild dogs (dholes), giant squirrels, and over 300 species of birds. The Denwa River, which flows through the park, enhances its beauty and offers a habitat for marsh crocodiles and migratory birds. One of the biggest attractions of Satpura is its varied safari options, including jeep safaris, walking safaris, boat safaris, canoeing, and even cycling tours, which make it a truly unique destination compared to traditional tiger reserves.
The park has multiple entry zones, with Madhai Gate being the most popular for jeep safaris, while Pachmarhi serves as the gateway for trekking and eco-tourism activities. Unlike many other national parks, walking safaris are allowed here, giving visitors a chance to explore the jungle up close under the guidance of trained naturalists. The best time to visit Satpura is from October to June, with March to May being ideal for spotting wildlife near water sources.
